A small glimpse into the last 4 days of September 2010 as i challenged myself to ride solo, unsupported around the mainland of Fiji – Viti Levu – raising £710 ($2150 FJD) for Rotary Club Lautoka, with Lautoka Hospital to be the main beneficiary.
Starting at Lautoka Hospital, the plan was to cycle clockwise around Viti Levu, following the Kings Road around to Suva, then Queens Road from Suva back to Lautoka…is it possible to cover 500km in 4 days???
You can read the 8 Part Blog that accompanies this video here and find out about the adventures i hope to complete in 2011.
This ride was only possible with the help of the following…
- Stinger Bicycles, Nadi - for free donation of the bike
- Rotary Club Lautoka – Peter Drysdale, Rick Eyre & Mohammed Tazim, and
Lautoka Hospital - Felix Chaudary at Fiji Times for covering the ride.
- Sera Janine at Fiji Sun
- Fiji Beachouse for Free Food, Beer (!) and Accomodation at the end of Day 3!
- Oasis Restaurant, Pacific Harbour for free lunch on Day 3
- Williams & Gosling Limited Fiji for donations
- Amalgamated Pest Control Fiji for donations
To those who offered words of support and donated to the cause, it is hugely appreciated.
…and Al Humphreys for the inspiration
